Dataran Merdeka lockdown by DBKL
At about 4.30am Friday morning, April 27, The Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) had moved in to cordon the area around Dataran Merdeka. Uniformed officers were seen placing plastic cones by the roadside, followed by metal barriers all around Dataran Merdeka, to enforce a lockdown or an 'occupy' themselves, with regards to Bersih3.0's Duduk Bantah rally this Saturday.
In the last couple of days, DBKL officers and activists from #OccupyDataran group were engaged in a cat-and-mouse game, where officers had seized tents, food supplies and even cash donations from the activists, who were not deterred; they continued to put up tents day after day. There are some reports of harrassment, with some testimonials shared with MSN, and some activists, a total of 6, have been arrested and charged. The Bersih committee has stressed on that they will continue to use Dataran Merdeka as the venue stipulated.
