Luxury cruise ship Azamara Quest, carrying about a thousand passengers from North America, Europe and Australia, received global attention when it was crippled Friday off the Philippines and had to be escorted to a Malaysian port.

After being stranded for 24 hours, the ship was able to limp to Sandakan, Malaysia under emergency power with the escort of Malaysian coast guard ships.

The luxury cruise, which departed Hong Kong for the original destination of Singapore, carried about 600 tourists and 400 crew.
