Air quality in the Klang Valley dipped dramatically with the return of haze this morning, affecting visibility across multiple locations in Kuala Lumpur.

Seasonal dry spells and hot spots in Sumatra, Indonesia are believed to be the cause of the haze, which affects Peninsular Malaysia almost annually.

The presence of the haze is accompanied by an oppressive thickness in the air, an indication of low air quality. The Department of Environment's Air Pollutant Index (API) tracks air quality in Malaysia.

Three locations in Selangor were recorded as having unhealthy readings, or an API between 101 and 200. The locations are Kuala Selangor (131), Port Klang (130) and Shah Alam (106)

At this point is uncertain whether the haze will continue over the next few days, or will dispel soon. If the air quality remains unhealthy, readers are advised to purchase facial masks to stay safe.

Years after years after years, its the same story, forest and pit fires from INDONESIA,causes haze in the neighbouring countries, and not a word of apology from them,it really shows the efficiencies or total lack of the Indonesian authorities in handling their own domestic problems which has now turned into a cross borders situation, and a bad one too.. The cause of these inefficiencies in preventing oper burning, your guess is as good as mine!!!!!! It also shows the total neglect of the Indonesian Goverment for the health of the populations of their neighbours, the very ones, whom they would go for assistance in time of castrtophies...

we have to take drastic action. We cant suffer in silent every year. We as 1Msia must stand up now protest n boycott the country that is causing it. Our health is at stake. No use staying in milloin ringgit condos n u have haze at your windows. Take action now. Enought is enough. Govt n Asian nations must do their part. Our kids n old people are suffering.NGOs instead of protesting for ur own agenda, protest for the sake of ur families health n the whole of Malaysia. Now let us all pray together to the almighty to have rain n stop the haze

Haze is basically Indonesia's second-hand smoke for Malaysia. They enjoy the benefit (enriched agricultural land from open burning), while we suffer from their bad habits. Our government should impress more strongly to them to be more effective in changing their people's way of clearing their land. It should definitely not be at our personal and e****mical health's expense.

Yes,an annual gift from a very CONSIDERATE neighbour, one that we have gone beyond to assist in times of natural calamities, one who always uses us as scapegoat. Wonder, when they are going to clean up their act and curb the rampant corruptions existing,in order to con****pen burning?? Maybe in another 100 years?? I say, enough is enough, they must be made aware of the health problems their citizens are creating for us,Malaysians....!!!!!!
