No non-Malays for us, we are UiTM, says varsity head

Its vice-chancellor Tan Sri Prof Dr. Sahol Hamid Abu Bakar said UiTM was formed to increase the number of professionals and semi-professionals among the Malays and bumiputeras.

Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) will not open its doors to non-Malays and will remain as the institution of higher learning for Malays and bumiputeras, said its vice-chancellor Tan Sri Prof Dr. Sahol Hamid Abu Bakar.

Sahol said UiTM was formed to increase the number of professionals and semi-professionals among the Malays and bumiputeras.

"Our country's independence and UiTM's struggle are synonymous with the Malay struggle to become a respected community. We will continue to defend our intake position," the Umno-controlled Utusan Malaysia reported today.

His reiteration of the UiTM position as a provider of quality education to Malays or Bumiputeras comes after a suggestion by Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud, political secretary to DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang, that a UiTM-type institution be set up for non-Malays.

She was promptly labelled a traitor to her race just because of this suggestion.

Umno leaders even suggested Dyana Sofya did not know her history, with Selangor state liaison chief Datuk Seri Noh Omar accusing that Dyana Sofya had been used by DAP and that she should understand the philosophy behind the setting up of UiTM which was founded by Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara).

He said Malays had sacrificed a lot for other races, citing the Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) which has set a quota for non-Malay students to enrol in the college.

Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah echoed Noh's sentiment.

Saifuddin, who was also the former Higher Education deputy minister, said UiTM's objective was to help Bumiputera students, especially those from rural areas.

He said this privilege should not be questioned, as there were 19 other higher learning institutions, which were open to other races with no entry quota.

Saifuddin also said Malays had never questioned other non-Malay parties for setting up colleges or universities for themselves.

Dyana Sofya, who hails from Ipoh, Perak, is a UiTM law graduate.

She had also said that the Malaysian education system should move past being race-based and should be more need-based.

This so called Vice Chancellor of UITM must be very very scared of the non malays.  He has so much inferiority complex in him so much so that he dare not compete with the non malays. Wonder where he got his professorship from??  So afraid to compete with the others no wonder there are so many kangkong graduates.  What a joke!

Lots of truth also with the comments made by "good Malay"

I also happened to interact with the students of Sabah branch Uitm.  MY god, they definitely cannot read, write and speak English and the standards of their assignments are not better than Form 5.

Even their Bahasa writings make me laugh. It seems that this university place emphasis on Islamic education and the students assigment place more importance on the quality of papers used, the binding of their thesis rather than the content.  Definitely no standard and my advise to all employers is that any Uitm students should be made to sit another test of your company first before you hire them.

After the interview, ask them to write a short essays on your relevant topics and see what standard of writing they have..

YOu definitely will LAUGH your heads off

HALOOOOOO Malai- UUUUS

We all know who this SAHOL bastard is. I have seen his emails forwarded to me by Uitm lecturers and staff, and anyone would cringe at how RASCIST this bastard is.

WORST, at the Sabah Branch of Uitm, even the local natives find it hard to enter this institution especially the Kadazan Dusun Christians.

Actually Uitm is ONLY opened now to Moslems and these includes Indons and PINOY moslems but the local natives are quietly barred from entering this university under so many guises like the faculties are already filled for that year or other excuses...

Of course the faculties in Sabah are all full of semenanjung students as well as mostly the children of PTI from the philipino moslem communities.

IF YOU dont believe this statement, just come up to the UITM sabah branch and demand to see all the list of students and check their background, you will here most of the students with PINOY slangs..

Don't bother about this Bumi cesspool university. Keep on doing what you are doing, producing students who can't even compete fairly.

Lesser competition, better for the non Bumis if that is what Gov wants 'for the best for Bumis'

Wait until these students are exposed to the real world where they will be pitted against the best brains from around the world. Soon they will realise life is tough without a wheelchair for their 'soft bone' condition resulted from thse 'for the best' policies.

Then we will see them claiming it is unfair for non Bumis to be selected, and not them.

Cheers to that~

At my graduation at TAR, Dr. M challenge Dr. Ling that TAR was races (Chinese) and request TAR to open Its door to other races. Dr Ling counter back that TAR college were always based on Merits which I as a student always noted that. Other races was recruited to study but most will drop out in yr 1 /2 .

We have quotas for Malays in ALL Public University and yet,

Today !!! , we have  of UiTM, vice-chancellor Tan Sri Prof Dr. Sahol Hamid Abu Bakar, loudly announce they are races University.

Bravo for the confirmation !!! Therefore, why should TAR college / TAR University be bother that they cannot be races?

I hope TAR college UTAR continue to uphold their merit policies and be one of the top 100 world Universities.

Today , there will be the announcement on the result of appeal for those SPM tops student.

We hope MCA will take this opportunity to take the list where the appeal was rejected, make assessment, recruit them to UTAR (with minimum fee / student loan). Not just the Chinese student but those who deserve a position to study what they are interested in.

Make your pledge as a non races party.

Set up a foundation, for Malaysia & Overseas Member who are the Victim of Malaysia's Education system,  to contribute and continue to help those who are deserve for a professional studies, Locally (Private Universities / Overseas Universities.

If in future, these student choose not to serve this country, let it be.

We did not do this but we were force to face what need to be done.

Sometimes, I wonder people really think. Take the example of this thoughtless UiTM VC, what has the university achieved to-date. Though the medium of instruction in this university is in English, most of the so -called graduated professionals or semi-professionals (I wonder how a semi-professional look like?) can't even speak and write in simple English.

On the contrary, other public universities uses BM as the major medium of instruction have produced better graduates. In the most recent QS ranking, UiTM ranked 700, is there anything to be proud of and yet so protective to deny other ethnic Malaysians to study in the university.

In fact, the VC should sit down and work out a proposal to the government and other stakeholders to allow other ethnic Malaysians to enter the university to boost its local and international standing.

By the way, I graduated in a top UK university (1st in Scotland and top 3 overall in UK) and yet  the university don't deny other nationalities to study in their university.

Its a wake up call.

"Umno leaders even suggested Dyana Sofya did not know her history, with Selangor state liaison chief Datuk Seri Noh Omar accusing that Dyana Sofya had been used by DAP and that she should understand the philosophy behind the setting up of UiTM which was founded by Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara)."

- Yes, UiTM was FOUNDED by Mara, but from whom is it FUNDED?

"He said Malays had sacrificed a lot for other races, citing the Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) which has set a quota for non-Malay students to enrol in the college."

- I didn't know learning with citizens of different races is considered a sacrifice. 1Malaysia anyone?

"Saifuddin also said Malays had never questioned other non-Malay parties for setting up colleges or universities for themselves."

- Why would anyone question non-Malays for setting up colleges or universities, when these institutions do not discriminate based on your skin colour? The entry requirements for these institutions are usually based solely on merit, full stop.

Humans fear what they do not understand, and as we can see, local colleges and universities are churning out low quality and unemployable "graduates" due to the lack of competition. They are happy to be wrapped safely in their coccoon, so let it be. It is detrimental only to themselves.

it's simple, they are scared that their level of education will be pull down further by other race.

why would thsy take sabahan or sarawakian, because they are not so smart.

as for his professorship - up to your imagination, i think no university in the world will accept his qualification - a narrow mind professor.

Very difficult for UiTM graduates to get interviews and jobs because the majority of their graduates are seen as high school graduates. So don't make it harder for them. Yes, its true, UiTM should not be called a University because there is no hope of improvement.

But for many, with an ongoing BN government, the local schools cannot improve because school and education funding has gone into corrupt BN government pockets. So an oppressed Bumiputera nation under BN has no where to go but to UiTM.

oi oi oi . Get your facts right @Abu Sayaff.  UiTM is open to all bumiputra regardless of any religion. I am Iban Muslim and had graduated from UiTM but I have lots of family and friends that are Christian who also attended it. I don't know where you came from but you know nothing about Sabah and Sarawak. Don't spread lies. your mother never teach you not to lie ?

Stop all the racist remarks. Abu Sayaff can go fly kite! We've seen lorries of non-malay students or graduates speak "lintang pukang" English...

Many.. many of them!  But we understand.. as English is not our mother tongue.  Some even made it into the corporate world but still speak "huru hara" English...

So, no need to comment lah!

Malaysia & Malaysian!!!.....Please take necessary legal action against....Abu Sayaff!!!

The writings by Aby Sayaff regarding UiTM and it's VC are almost without any evidence what so ever. Since a legal precedent has been set with regard to Papagomo....therefore I urge the UiTM authorities and it's VC to take all necessary legal action to bring this individual to face justice. An example and many more must be set against these rumour mongers and truth spinners so that others will be more careful in choosing their words of criticism. This individual even went to the extend of calling UiTM's VC ...A BASTARD on record. Furthermore saying that UiTM is open only for Muslims and specifies UiTM Sabah branch as an example....MAKE AN EXAMPLE SO THAT OTHERS WILL TOE THE LINE!!!

I wonder why the Chinese want UiTM to open its door for non-bumi. They claimed that UiTM is low class. I strongly advice that UiTM should not be open to non-bumiputra  Why ? Because UiTM was founded to help POOR bumiputra like me. I used to live in the rumah panjang in Kapit, Sarawak. We had no other income but to sell hand made crafts at the town. It was very hard indeed as we have to cross over the river twice to get into town. As for me, now I'm living in a quite more decent home and I and very thankful to UiTM for helping this poor tiny Ibanese.
The noble genius superior Chinese is so filthy damn rich. Why not you guys go to other world class universities. UiTM can not offer you nothing but crap.

Enough. Respect Bumi privileges. If endless accusation thrown to those who defend Malay's right are no curbed, Utusan Malaysia and Perkasa will be more daring in their approach later on. Don't blame Utusan and Perkasa at that point of time.

Would you like your house at the time of formation just for Bumi now open to every body?

Malaysia & Malaysian!!!.....Especially a good malay & Abu Sayaff................

1. Ms. Dyana is not a traitor but who is IGNORANT or possibly someone who choose to be IGNORANT.

2. Don't ACCUSE if you don't have any evidence because YOU ARE MAKING A FOOL OF YOURSELVES?

3. Spreading LIES only degrades YOUR CREDIBILITIES if you have one by the way.

4. Credibility is earned via honesty and hard work......NOT by lying.....

5. It is bizarre and unthinkable to hear from you two the amount of LIES that are coming from your mouthpiece when every single adult Malaysian knows that UiTM has students comprising from Malays and Bumiputeras from Peninsula, Sabah and Sarawak.
