2) Qualifying for the 1972 Summer Olympics
Perhaps one of our greatest achievements in football ever, our national team defied all odds by qualifying for the 1972 Munich Olympics - our first and only foray in the Olympics. Led by national football legends such as Captain Abdullah Zulkifli Nordin, Wong Fook Chuan and N. Thanabalan, they claimed the scalps of Asian powerhouses Japan, Philippines, Taiwan, and South Korea en route to qualifying for the Olympics. Although they didn't manage to get out of the group stage, they did, however, beat the USA 3-0. Proving that they were no flukes, our Harimaus qualified for the Moscow Olympics in 1980, but they decided to boycott the games.
