BERSIH 3.0: Dataran Merdeka venue rejected

‘Duduk Bantah’ slated for this Saturday not considered a ‘national’ event by DBKL

The coalition for clean and fair elections, BERSIH, revealed today that Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) has rejected their application to make use of Dataran Merdeka for their 'Duduk Bantah' protest sit-in event scheduled for April 28.

A scan of the rejection letter by DBKL to BERSIH 2.0 chief executive Maria Chin Abdullah was published on the official BERSIH Facebook page Monday afternoon.

The letter stated that DBKL would not approve the application as it was unsuitable to the DBKL-regulated uses of Dataran Merdeka.

According to the letter, the use of Dataran Merdeka as a venue was only allowed to 'national' events such as National Day, Federal Territory Day and other similar events.

The 'Duduk Bantah' this coming Saturday is the third BERSIH event, following the BERSIH 2.0 rally last year which saw an estimated 50,000 demonstrators take to the streets.

BERSIH co-chair Datuk A. Samad Said declared at the 'Duduk Bantah' launching press conference that he expected up to 500,000 demonstrators joining them in various locations within Malaysia and across the globe.

fully not agree...many concerts have been held at dataran merdeka before this... why they cant allow duduk bantah...I think they are afraid of 500,000 people taking part if the event is permitted?????

wake up Malaysians, this is our golden chance....If they still win they election, I'm sure the tax will be heavier, fuel price rises, speed traps everyday, ...remember, they already put a lot of money lately (BR1m , makanan rakyat, kedai rakyat, klinik rakyat, duit buku, etc to win the people heart), after this they will take back every cent from ours to make up the budget. By that time we all will suffer for another 5years

come on people.. together lets we 'MERDEKAKAN' Malaysia drpd politik kotor / tipu / putar belit / korupsi / kroni / campur tgn politik pd polis/makhamah dan sewaktu dgnnya

Last week it was the minister of legal affairs who directed Bersih 2.0  to apply  for permit from the police.
Now, it is the under the jurisdiction of  shadowy Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur.

Better  put it blankly  : Dewan Merdeka are reserved for BN/UMNO patronage.  Vote wisely.

To be honest, there are many cases of the so called "legal immigrants" out of nowhere flooded in to vote.

Is this called Malaysia democracy ? It sounds to me like it's a Dictatorship instead.

And also all these corruptions must end. Even there are cases of RM2 paid up captial company able to get million dollars worth project and also the company is already bankrupt.

This is called M a l a y s i a ? 1 Malaysia ? 1 BN to be exact.

Why is BN scare of 'Duduk bantah' when it is good for all the  Malaysians ?  We should thank Ambiga & Bersih committee for capabability of putting all Malaysians to gather at Dataran Merdeka rather to spend millions of ringgit for the slogan ' 1 Malaysia '. Jom, jumpa di dataran merdeka !

Definition of Irony / Ironic:-

1. the humorous or mildly sarcastic use of words to imply the opposite of what they normally mean
2. an instance of this, used to draw attention to some incongruity or irrationality
3. incongruity between what is expected to be and what actually is, or a situation or result showing such incongruity

Example of Irony :-

Our 1 Malaysia PM stating "We want to create a Malaysia where human rights principles are upheld, where an individual is free to gather peacefully and to express opinions openly while balancing the interests of the individual and community,"  - quote taken from the previous msn article  AND challenges faced by Bersih 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0.

Sentence using the word irony :- In due course the citizens of Malaysia began to realize the irony of the statements made by the Prime Minister of Malaysia and the Ministers of the government of the day.

How much more "peacefully" can you gather and express your opinion than with a sit-in event?

Now it is even more obvious why all this is happening…

If there is anyone out there who still cannot see the truth and the dirty tactics that this current government is using to deceive us, you all might as well donate your eyes to those blind people waiting on the long list for donors…

If you can’t see the truth now, YOU NEVER WILL…

Go Bersih 3.0… I will be there…

Please finalize the venue and thank you for all your efforts

I'm surprised that there are stadiums in KL that can take in so many expected people. So it is not so possible to put all the people in there.

Also, the proposed gathering is national enough, affecting ALL Malaysians. So, Dataran Merdeka is the right place for it.

I anti demonstrasi jalanan. But why not DBKL just approved their application? Alasan DBKL bagi adalah tak munasabah. If the stadium merdeka only for national event, why segala concert boleh dianjurkan di stadium merdeka? Lepas ni tak pasal2 najib disalahkan.... Ah Jib Gor, u shud ask DBKL to approve Bersih application... or else other people will think it is your fault...

Although I am a Middleman, but WHY Malaysia car so expensive? It is because of TAX, Singapore Car Ownership Certificate is expensive because gorverment is reducing the amount of car in such a small country. But Malaysia car's TAX is higher than the car? Is it the Transportation or Installation fees so HIGH?! I don't know the money is masuk pocket gorverment or maybe they use the money to give people a better life ^^

As I know Bersih is a organisation that ask for a fair election aren't they? They didn't burning cars or act rough aren't they? So why don't BN and Malaysian had a fair competition, why don't gorverment give yourself a kesedaran about what Malaysian want?

Give it a shot, Malaysia is good and our resident all are good our Najib also a good leader. I am not supposing to criticise any side but I am giving fair comment. All people wish for a better tomorrow. Lets have a negotiation with Bersih.

Bersih and any other legal , peaceful  organisations should be allowed to have  peaceful demo  at Dataran Merdeka to voice their grievances , The Police should be informed before hand.   Unless the venue is already booked , it should be allowed .Why should City Hall keep Dataran for themself ? Common sense says it is better they gather there , than walk the streets . If there are trouble makers , then arrest them .Dont assume and presume . Democary must be practised and not just spoken.

IF & IF PM Najib and the rest of his Gang is true in words and deeds, do we have to support Bersih 3.0 in the 'sit-in' to ask for "Clean & Fair Elections?" Of course we could spend our precious time doing more meaning full things like being more productive.

The reason why Bersih 3.0  today is the mouthpiece of Malaysians is because Umno and in particular Prime Minister Najib and his Ministers and gang have failed to "LIVE" up to their WORDS of HONOR of "People First, Performance Now". What we have witnessed is PEOPLE LAST, PERFORMANCE NOW.

Had the Prime Minister obliged as a true Gentleman and as the most powerful man in the system, nothing is impossible, even C4!  The reason is he is dead scared and in the process, pass the buck to Bersih 3.0 and at the same time want to protect his foreign image, hence, causing unnecessary difficulties to the Rakyat who supported the cause of Bersih 3.0 for having a just and fair election. Is this Democratic demand too difficult to oblige?

Is it still surprising on the tactics employed by the govt in dealing with such scenario? They will claim it disturb the public and peace, this is not suitable, that is not suitable. What I am surprised is that DBKL (govt) gave notice now (which I consider early) and not 1 to 2 days before the rally. They will find ways and means to disrupt and suppress democracy and still try to look angelic by "not knowing" or "not informed" and in the end will try and deny this and that. They meaning the rulling party......BN or in our Malaysia political scenario UMNO.....

       no matter what you try to say or do;

no matter how innocent and saintly you try to potray yourself; we the rakyat knows who is the culprit and definitely knows how to differentiate what is right and wrong. The more you try your gimmicks, the more the rakyat will respond.

ABUABUABUABUABUABUABUABUABUABUABUABUABUABUABU + ABBNABBNABBNABBN.......

Guys thanks to UMNO for expelling DSAI... if not there isn't any PKR or PR. If UMNO did not expell him, he for sure will still up hold UMNO spirits and condemn others. Not fighting for the rakyat... Open your eyes.....

What do you think his Deputy President will do if he is still in UMNO? Is he going to set up another party for the rakyat? Or what he will do if the boss join back UMNO because he has better chance of becoming PM?

They are just another rejected re-cycle leaders of UMNO Kick them all out and prevent them from cheating the people and ruin this country more & more.

This will never end at all but what obviously we can see is that when the country is corrupted and not clean we are progressing slower than our other ASEAN country. When only we are able to get out from a 3rd world country status?Everyone that join politic with an intention of gaining big bucks then who are the people that going to serve rakyat?Inflation rising, cost increasing, salary never increase. So many social issues never tackle. The country never progress at all under your current administration.

Expected, ni semua sandiwara from BeND! Whole world is watching us, Malaysia is going backward after such a long time ruling from incompetent & corrupted government. The only way BeND can retain PRU13 is thru votes cheating, just admit it & bertaubat lah sekarang! We don't require Bersih 3 if BeND is fair & clean, Insha'Allah!
